The recent IPL auctions have given players new teams to represent. Players who played for one franchise in the past will have to adjust with the system of another team and gel well with the support staff.

One of the most popular franchise in the league and two time winners Kolkata Knight Riders has finally chosen their captain for the upcoming season of the IPL.

After much speculation that either Robin Uthappa or Australian batsman Chris Lynn will be chosen as the leader of the Knight Riders but the management shocked the fans by choosing Indian wicket keeper Dinesh Karthik as the captain of team.

Robin Uthappa was being considered as the most likely option for the captaincy post as he has been part of the franchise for the last four seasons.

Uthappa has played 58 matches for the Kolkata based franchise and is the most experienced in the Kolkata outfit for the upcoming season.

Robin Uthappa has been named as the deputy to Dinesh Karthik for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2018.

Karthik on the other hand has played for six different IPL franchise in the first ten years of the IPL but this is the first instance that he will lead a team in the IPL.

However, Uthappa has expressed his views on Karthik being appointed as the captain. He said, “DK and I know each other from our U-17 playing days; I’m really excited to work with him.”
