Rohan Mustafa sets horizon on Super Six stage of 2018 World Cup Qualifier

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) skipper Rohan Mustafa urges teammates to give their best in impending 2018 World Cup Qualifier. The much-awaited competition will be beginning on March 4 in Zimbabwe.
“The slow wickets in Harare are also likely to assist our brand of cricket,” Mustafa was quoted as saying by Sport360.
On February 23, the UAE squad has left for Zimbabwe. The visiting side will feature in the ten-team tournament which would test out the impressive side.
Mustafa is relying on the experience. He stated the juniors would be eagerly looking forward to gaining a lot. The new faces are bound to share the bench with the players like Shaiman Anwar and Mohammad Naveed.
“Then we have Shaiman and Naveed who played in the 2015 World Cup and the World Twenty20 2016 and have been sharing their experiences and lifting the players’ spirits,” Mustafa said.
Interestingly, only two teams are bound to make it to the final list of overall ten teams for the 2019 World Cup. The coveted competition is scheduled for England and Wales.
The 29-year-old Kohat born Mustafa further wished to make it to the Super Six stage would make it quite interesting.
“We are taking one step at a time, which means our first target is to qualify for the Super Six stage,” Mustafa asserted.
Pertinently, the reigning champions of the World Cricket League Division Two in February. Mustafa reiterated they would be banking on the confidence to carry forward the momentum.
“We are in fine shape to produce good results in Zimbabwe as we are coming on the back of a winning performance in Namibia,” Mustafa added.
Owing to the fresh challenge, the UAE team has already worked hard at home.
UAE is in a group of defending Twenty20 World Champions Windies. Moreover, Netherlands, Ireland and Papua New Guinea are in the same fold.
“No disrespect to any team but I think we have a strong chance against the Netherlands and Papua New Guinea as we have recently played against them and won those matches,” Rohan Mustafa maintained.
On the other side, the teams topping the charts in the group will make it to the round six.
In the recent past, the UAE camp sweated it out in nets, in order to give their best in the Africa continent.
With tournament concluding on March 25, it will further have the window for 26 ODIs.
In the Group A clash at Harare Sports Club in Harare, the UAE will take on Papua New Guinea.
