Rohit Sharma Clears Air On MS Dhoni's Selection For ICC World Cup 2019

Ahead of the 3-match ODI series between Australia and India, the vice-captain of India Rohit Sharma addressed the media to reveal their plans for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. During the course, he also spoke on the selection of MS Dhoni for the grand event. Rohit Sharma also confirmed that 90% of the team is finalised.

The right-handed opening batsman quoted that none of the players in the side has fixed their places for the upcoming grand event. But, he believes that most of the names on the world cup squad will be the names of current setup that toured Australia.

Rohit Sharma feels that each and every player in the team is in top-notch form, which is a good thing for the side. But, he also highlighted the fact that injuries can come at any point in time and the backups should be ready to replace and perform straight away.

“Nobody is guaranteed to that flight to England as yet. We’ve to be in prime form. Each & every player that will be taking part in the World Cup, all of us are aware of that, we need to keep performing&make sure that come to the World cup, we’re ready for it,” Rohit told reporters.

”More or less you’ll see the same squad playing the World Cup, there will be one or two changes keeping in mind form&injury concerns over the next few months. But I don’t see any drastic change in the squad. However, I still feel everything will depend on the form of each player,” he added.

Further, the vice-captain quoted that the presence of MS Dhoni will bring calmness to the side, which is very important during the World Cup. He also added that Dhoni will be helpful for the skipper and can make the difference with his batting ability at the end.

“Over the years we’ve seen the kind of presence he has in the dressing room and on the field. With him being around, there’s calmness around the group, it’s also a bit of a help to the captain, also going down the batting order & that finishing touch is very important,” he added.

Well, as per Rohit Sharma, most probably, the squad, which is playing currently will take the flight to England for the major event in the game of cricket.
