Just a day after India head coach Ravi Shastri revealed that Rohit Sharma’s medical report stated “he could be in danger of injuring himself again” and advised the batsman not to rush his comeback, the opener has hit the nets for Mumbai Indians in order to recover ahead of the IPL playoffs.

Rohit Sharma is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury he suffered during the clash against Kings XI Punjab on October 18. Since then, he has missed for games for Mumbai Indians. Last week, he was also not named in any of India’s squads for the upcoming Australia tour.

But just moments later after the squad was announced, Mumbai Indians dropped a surprise by announcing that their skipper has started training and also posted pictures and video of the batsman in the nets. Neither BCCI nor Mumbai Indians gave any update on the injury following the contrasting incidents of squad selection and the batsman training in nets as confusion increased.

Amidst all these, Ravi Shastri, on Saturday, hinted that Rohit Sharma’s injury is serious and advised him against rushing his comeback. He also said the call not to include Rohit in the squad was taken by the selectors after going through his medical report.

“I have no say, neither am I a part of the selection. All I know is the medical report which says he could be in danger of injuring himself again if he is not careful,” Shastri told Times Now.

But Rohit Sharma, on Sunday, defied Shastri’s advice and hit the nets. The IPL broadcasters showed the batsman batting in the nets while the game between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings was going on. The latest turn of events will only add to the confusion surrounding the India opener’s injury.
