The swashbuckling opener, Rohit Sharma is one of the most talented batsmen in this India’s batting line-up. However, he has had a tough time in the ongoing South Africa series. While he has looked good but his scores are far from impressive.

In the last T20I, Rohit got out for a golden duck in the first delivery he faced. He was caught plumb in front by Junior Dala in the second over of the innings. As a result, Rohit enters into the record books, not for the results he wanted.

How did the match go:

Meanwhile, South Africa defeated India to level the series. The host banked on Heinrich Klaasen and skipper JP Duminy to chase down India’s target of 189 runs.

Batting first, India posted 188 runs on the scoreboard after a shaky start. Manish Pandey (79*) and MS Dhoni (52*) helped India go closer to the 200-run mark. The duo added 98 runs for the fifth wicket as South African bowlers found it tough to break the partnership. Dhoni was back to the finisher role scoring quick runs at the back while Pandey played a classic knock. Yuzvendra Chahal had a rare off day on this tour. Duminy played the waiting game scoring 64 runs from 40 balls while Klaasen took the attack to the opposition. Klaasen departed scoring 69 runs off just 30 deliveries including seven mammoth sixes.

Further, Farhaan Behardien finished the game off scoring 16 runs off 10 balls with six wickets in hand.

Rohit Sharma creates a record:

With the score of naught in the Centurion T20I, Rohit now tops the charts of Indian cricketers with most ducks in this format. Rohit now has four ducks to his name in T20Is. He leapfrogged the other two cricketers namely Ashish Nehra and Yusuf Pathan. Both Nehra and Pathan are tied to the second spot with three ducks each.

On a personal note, Sharma didn’t have a good series. The only notable performance came in the fourth ODI where he hammered 115 runs in Port Elizabeth to help India win the series. Prior to the ODI series, he also had a very poor Test series scoring only 78 runs in four innings.
