Rohit, with 2422 runs in the shortest format, is just 52 runs ahead of Kohli in the list of most runs in T20Is. The race between the duo will be interesting to see. Rohit had gone past Kohli’s record in the home series against West Indies last year. Kohli had taken a rest for the WI T20Is.

The opening T20I between India and South Africa will also see Rohit making a comeback in the playing XI in the T20I side. He was rested for the third T20I against West Indies on the Caribbean tour.

After the first T20I in Dharamsala tomorrow, the next T20I games will be played in Mohali and Bangalore on September 18 and 22, respectively.

Following the T20I series, both the teams will play a three-match Test series starting on October 2. The series will see Rohit open the innings in the longest format of the game for the first time.

Before the Test series, Rohit will be leading a 13-member Board President’s XI squad. The match will be played in Vizag. Mayank Agarwal, who will be opening the innings along with Rohit, is also a part of the team.
