Rohit Sharma Gets a New Assignment Just Ahead of the T20Is vs Australia

India opening batsman, Rohit Sharma was the highest run scorer in the recently concluded five-match ODI series between India and Australia.

Rohit scored a magnificent hundred in the final match which India won by seven wickets. The win in Nagpur took the Virat Kohli-led side onto the top of ICC ODI rankings.

Apart from the Mumbai-born batsman, there were two other players who scripted India’s memorable win against their familiar foes.

The two-spin twins, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav spun their web around the visiting batsmen and both of them combined picked up 13 wickets in eight innings that they played in the series.

After the series, Rohit was given a new assignment by the BCCI outside the 22 yards.

The 30-year old was seen asking funny questions from India’s new spin twins. Rohit even tweeted about the interview that he took, where he wrote,

“My new role: Getting ‘special info’ out of these shy teammates of mine.”

India will now take on Australia in the shortest format of the game, the first match of the series is scheduled to be played at JSCA stadium in Ranchi, Jharkhand on Saturday (7th October).

Rohit for his brilliance with the bat achieved a career-best ranking (5th Position) in ICC’s latest ODI rankings.

Rohit will open the innings along with his partner Shikhar Dhawan in the T20Is, Dhawan will be making a comeback after he missed the whole ODI series due to his wife’s health issues. While Dinesh Karthik is also being recalled into the team after he was dropped from the ODI series against Sri Lanka and Australia.

The only surprise inclusion in the team was the veteran fast-bowler from Delhi, Ashish Nehra. The 38-year old who last played for India earlier this year in February at Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru.
