The last few days have been brilliant for the Indian National Cricket Team across the formats. They have delivered goods almost in ever series with players performing exceptionally. In between, they have also got the luxury of rotating the players with the bench strength being so strong. Apart from that, another glorious luxury India got is the able-captain Rohit Sharma to replace regular captain Virat Kohli.
The captaincy skills of Rohit Sharma has helped India to rest the regular skipper Virat Kohli, who is carrying a lot of burden on his shoulders. The Mumbai player is doing a great job for the team by guiding the team to victory more often than not.
Rohit Sharma has got the best winning percentage:
The classy Rohit Sharma has led India in 12 T20Is, in which, Men in Blue won on 11 occasions, with the only defeat coming against Sri Lanka in Nidahas Trophy in 2018. On the other hand, Kohli has led India in 20 T20Is in which they won 12 games, lost seven while one game against Australia in 2018 had no result due to rain.
If Rohit Sharma guides India to victory against New Zealand, he will overtake Virat Kohli’s tally in the most wins for India in the T20I format category. The former Indian captain MS Dhoni sits on the top of the list with 41 wins in 72 matches with a winning percentage of 59.28.
The current skipper Rohit Sharma has a winning percentage of 91.66 while Kohli’s winning percentage is 63.15. As far as the winning percentage is concerned, the right-handed batsman from Mumbai is at top of the chart.
Coming to India’s tour of New Zealand 2019, the visitors convincingly thrashed the home side by a margin of 4-1. It was their first series victory in New Zealand after a long wait of almost 10 years. The victory came after their historic series victory against Australia.
In their next assignment, they will lock horns against Kiwis in the 3-match T20I series. The first game is scheduled to be played on February 6th at Westpac Stadium, Wellington.
