India star Rohit Sharma has given his opinion on who between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith is the best batsman in the world right now.
Ahead of the crunch showdown with India in the World Cup, Australia skipper Aaron Finch had hailed his predecessor Steve Smith as the best batsman in the world. The much-awaited game will see the resumption of the famous rivalry between Smith and India skipper Virat Kohli. Before the ball-tampering scandal, Smith and Kohli used to be involved in a fierce battle to gain supremacy as the best in the world.
Virat Kohli has stamped his class to become the undisputed number one in both Tests and ODIs. But despite Kohli’s credentials, Aaron Finch believes Steve Smith is the “best batter in the world” over all three forms of the game. Finch’s comment comes on the back of Smith’s gritty 73-run knock against West Indies which helped Australia recover from a disastrous start and eventually win the game.

“Well, when you’ve got world-class players coming back into your side, it’s unfortunate for the guys who have missed out and the guys that have played some really good one-day cricket in the past,” Aaron Finch said.
“Steve is the best batter in the world in my opinion over all three forms of the game,” he added.

However, unlike Finch, Rohit Sharma was in no mood to do the comparisons ahead of the big game, saying:
“These comparisons will keep happening until these two are playing. This is for you to decide and not for me.”
Well, Finch has just set the tone for the upcoming clash. Kohli loves to be challenged and Finch words might just motivate him to churn out another special performance. India, meanwhile, will have to bring their best game to beat Australia in the game. Australia are in stunning form at the moment, having won their first two games of the tournament. The Aussies have also beaten India in the last three ODIs.
