As we complete ten glorious IPL seasons in this decade, the reputed website Wisden named its IPL Team of the Decade. The skipper of Mumbai Indians Rohit Sharma was picked to lead the team of the decade, while MS Dhoni will don the wicket-keeping gloves. The right-handed all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was named as the 12th man of the team.

In total, two players from Royal Challengers Bangalore, three players from Mumbai Indians, three players from Chennai Super Kings and one each from Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad named in the IPL team of the Decade by Wisden. They selected the team in the traditional format of seven Indian cricketers and four overseas players in the playing XI.

The former Royal Challengers Bangalore opener, Chris Gayle, who is now playing for Kings XI Punjab, will open the innings for the team alongside the skipper of Mumbai Indians Rohit Sharma. Chris Gayle showed his calibre with finest T20 knocks for RCB and also scored a breathtaking 175* off 66 balls, which is still the highest individual score in T20 cricket.

Meanwhile, his partner Rohit Sharma had been a blessing for Mumbai Indians. He led the team to the 4 IPL titles. And also, he is the third-highest scorer in IPL history, with 4898 runs in 188 matches at a strike-rate of 130.82. At number 3, Suresh Raina of CSK finds a place.

Suresh Raina is still the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament’s history, and only one of the two players to cross the 5000-run mark, with 5368 runs in 193 matches. Virat Kohli will follow him at number 4. He has scored the most runs in IPL history, with 5412 in 177 games at a strike-rate of 131.61, and his century-count of five is second only to Gayle, who has six.

At number 5, AB de Villiers was slotted, who scored 4395 runs in 142 innings at an incredible strike rate of 151. And, of course, MS Dhoni takes the wicket-keeping gloves and will be the finisher of the team. His 4432 runs at an average of 42.2 and his captaincy ability is a blessing for CSK.
