Ahead of the squad announcement for the limited-overs series against West Indies, it was expected that Rohit Sharma will be given rest by the board to manage his workload. However, it wasn’t the case, as he was named as the vice-captain of the team for ODI and T20I formats of the game.

In the current calendar year, the limited-overs vice-captain has played 25 ODIs, 11 Twenty20 Internationals, which is three ODIs and four T20Is more than skipper Virat Kohli, who has been rested twice. However, Rohit Sharma doesn’t want to miss out a chance to represent India, especially, at this stage of his career.
