One of the eye-catching contests from the upcoming Test match at Wellington will be the clash between Ross Taylor and the Indian fast bowlers. The flamboyant batsman has scored maximum runs against India in both limited-overs formats and will be the cynosure of eyes during the Test series, especially while tackling Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.

The Indian pace attack was far from their best in the limited-overs leg of the ongoing tour. Bumrah, in fact, went wicketless in the three ODIs and as a result, lost his numero uno spot in the ICC rankings. However, the fast bowling attack has been bolstered by the inclusion of experienced Ishant Sharma, who was last week declared fit and has now joined the team in Wellington.

Ishant Sharma will bring new dynamics – Ross Taylor

The Indian premier fast bowler may have had a poor outing in the ODI series, but Taylor insisted that his side needs to be wary of Bumrah. Speaking ahead of the first Test, Ross Taylor has also cautioned his team not to just focus only on Jasprit Bumrah but also play other Indian bowlers with utmost concentration during the upcoming two-Test series.

“I think if we just look at Bumrah we are in trouble. I think their whole bowling lineup is fantastic. Obviously, Sharma coming back will bring new dynamics to the team. They have got a world-class batting line-up as well and we have to get through that. We have to be on our game to be successful against them,” said Taylor ahead of the first Test in Wellington.

I think I’m still good enough:

Further, Ross Taylor highlighted the golden run of the Indian National Cricket Team in the last couple of years and called them a world-class attack in the longer version of the game. Besides that, Ross Taylor is hopeful of delivering goods for the team with the same hunger.

“It normally does a little bit early on and it depends how long it goes for. It is a world-class Indian side all the way through and probably the biggest thing about thing Indian side and how well they have played over the last few years. They always have world-class batters and bowlers. I think I’m still good enough to this team by fine enough to field and still hungry to score runs. I’m happy for that,” said Taylor.

The 35-year-old New Zealand batsman will become the first cricketer in the game to reach 100 international matches in all the three formats when his side takes on India in the first Test.
