Young all-rounder from Baroda, Deepak Hooda wants to make his debut in the upcoming Nidahas Trophy.

BCCI had decided to rest their senior players following a gruelling tour of the Rainbow Nation. With the likes of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni opting out, it will be an opportunity for the junior cricketers to make a strong case for themselves.

Meanwhile, Nidahas Trophy which marks the 70-years of Sri Lankan independence is a triangular T20 tournament. It features Sri Lanka and Bangladesh starting from March 6 with host Sri Lanka facing India in the opener.

The 22-year-old Hooda was first drafted in the Indian team for a T20I series against Sri Lanka last year. However, he did not feature in any of the game. Getting an opportunity again, Hooda aims to make his debut.

I will give my 100 percent:

The all-rounder wants to give his 100 percent if he gets an opportunity. Hooda had done exceptionally well in recent years with both bat and ball.

This is an important series. I did not get a chance (to play) in the first series (in which I was selected), I hope that I will now get a chance and I am prepared for it. I will give my 110 percent,” Hooda said.

In 31 first class games for Baroda, Hooda has hammered 2208 runs. He has also taken seven wickets.

Being in India dressing room has helped:

Further, Hooda admitted that being in the dressing room with Indian players has helped him a lot. Also, he had a chat with former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni and tried to follow his inputs.

Yes, that (being in the Indian dressing room) obviously helped. There are big players in the team, who have done so much for the nation. Speaking to them, you learn a lot,” he said. “I asked MS (Dhoni), that being (batting) at number five, what should be my thinking and we discussed it and he told me (about it) and I am applying it,” he added.

Hooda, who represented Sunrisers Hyderabad last year also admitted his stint in the IPL has helped him grow as a cricketer.
