Gujarat Titans (GT) bowler Lockie Ferguson took a perfect revenge a bowler can, as he castled Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter, Jos Buttler, with a perfect yorker who had hit him for a huge six off the previous delivery as GT and RR clashed at the DY Patil Stadium in the 25th match of the IPL 2022.

Gujarat Titans batted first after RR captain Sanju Samson won his first toss in the ongoing IPL 2022 and chose to bowl. GT had two changes to their playing XI, as Vijay Shankar and Yash Dayal came in for Sai Sudharshan and Darshan Nalkande respectively. For RR, Trent Boult missed out due to a niggle and James Neesham replaced him.

Hardik Pandya played a captain’s knock after the openers Matthew Wade (12) and Shubman Gill (13) and then Vijay Shankar (2) fell early. Abhinav Manohar and Pandya stabilized the innings and then Pandya took off after Manohar was dismissed for 43 in 28 balls.

Pandya slammed 87* in 52 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes, while David Miller made 31* in 14 balls with 5 fours and 1 six as GT finished on 192/4 in 20 overs.

In reply, Devdutt Padikkal got out for a golden duck, while the experiment of Ravichandran Ashwin batting at no.3 failed as he got out for 8 after hitting a six. But Jos Buttler continued his good form as he smoked 54 runs in 24 balls only with 8 fours and 3 sixes.

One of those sixes came off Lockie Ferguson as he bowled a 146 kph screamer on the 5th ball of the 7th over. But Ferguson came up with the best revenge, as he bowled the next ball slower at 126 kph and a leg-cutter but at yorker length. Buttler had no clue against it, missed the ball trying to dig it out, and had to go back to the pavilion.
