RR vs RCB: Kumar Sangakkara Discusses How Obed McCoy Overcame His Mother's Illness To Deliver Goods Against RCB

Rajasthan Royals coach Kumar Sangakkara praised the West Indian for maintaining his feelings in check despite his mother’s illness back home in the West Indies.

Obed McCoy of the Rajasthan Royals was not only economical against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2022 Qualifier 2, but he also took three important wickets.

On Friday, Jos Buttler blew everyone away with his fourth century of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season, but Rajasthan Royals’ pace bowlers deserve credit for limiting Royal Challengers Bangalore with a below score in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Qualifier 2.

At the death, Prasidh Krishna and Obed McCoy put on a great show with the ball. While Krishna has faced criticism for his underachievement this season, McCoy has had to conquer a feelings barrier to produce a stellar performance with the ball for RR.

Following a game, RR’s Director of Cricket Operations, Kumar Sangakkara, demonstrated how difficult it would be for the West Indies fast bowler to concentrate on the game given his mother’s health issues back home.

“McCoy’s mother has been quite ill in the West Indies, and he’s had to deal with all of that and even though he was focused and outstanding tonight,” Sangakkara explained.

McCoy bowled exceptionally well, conceding only 23 runs in his four overs all the while picking up three crucial wickets: Faf du Plessis, Mahipal Lomror, and Harshal Patel.

Rajasthan has now scheduled another meeting with the Titans, whether they will face for the finals on Sunday. RR would like to make reparations after a limited defeat in Qualifier 1 and lift the trophy for the second time in their history.
