Finally, Sreesanth has got the nod from the court to play the game of cricket again. However, during the course, Sreesanth is looking to enter into politics as well. The former cricketer of India wants to beat Shashi Tharoor in the upcoming 2024 elections.

S Sreesanth has stated that he would contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as a Bharatiya Janta Party member from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram constituency in order to defeat his favorite personality, Shashi Tharoor, who supported him through thick and thin times.

Tharoor has been representing the Thiruvananthapuram seat in the Lok Sabha since 2009. Earlier in March this year, Sreesanth has visited Tharoor at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram. At that time, Tharoor had described him as one of the best bowlers India has produced and called him a proud icon of Kerala.

I will defeat Shashi Tharoor – S Sreesanth

S Sreesanth announced that he plans to contest the 2024 general elections from Thiruvananthapuram’s seat in Kerala. In an interview with The Indian Express, Sreesanth exuded confidence that he will defeat Congress leader Shashi Tharoor from the seat in the next elections.

During an interview with The Indian Express, the 36-year-old stated, “I am a huge fan of his (sic) as a person who had stood by me but I will defeat him in the elections in Thiruvananthapuram. No doubt about it.”

 “Now I am in control and so many good things are happening – from music, movies, books, web-series, cricket, and politics,” Sreesanth stated.

Previously, in August 2013, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) banned Sreesanth for life along with Rajasthan Royals’ Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan for their alleged involvement in spot-fixing in the 2013 IPL.

Previously, on March 15, 2019, the Supreme Court differentiated the BCCI disciplinary committee’s order and the suspension was brought down to seven years, allowing him to play next year.

Sreesanth, who has played 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20Is for India, will be eligible to play cricket from next September.
