Former Indian Test captain MS Dhoni has come out in support of the Indian team who lost the second Test by 135 runs at Supersport Park in Centurion. The Indian batsmen failed miserably in both the innings of the Test and couldn’t stand in front of the ruthless approach by the Proteas bowlers, who have had the better of the touring and famed Indian batting line up.
None of the Indian batsmen looked comfortable except for Indian skipper Virat Kohli who scored his 21st Test century and scored 153 in the first innings of the Test match.
The Indian team and management faced a lot of criticism over certain issues, be it the team selection or individual performances. The media and fans have kept the Indian team under some serious scrutiny.
However, Dhoni has come out in support of the team and has said that it is important to look at the positives of the team’s performances.
He said:
“I won’t answer that but I’ll say look at the positives. To win a Test match you need 20 wickets. We have taken 20 wickets. That is the biggest positive. If you can’t take 20 wickets, you can never win a Test. Irrespective of whether you are playing at home or outside. We are taking 20 wickets, which means you are always in a position to win the match. Once you start scoring runs, you are there (with a chance of winning).”
Dhoni will join the Indian ODI and T20 squad in South Africa. The ODI series is scheduled to begin from 1st February.
