The Indian batting line has been under heavy scrutiny over the years for underperforming and has been called flat track bullies courtesy their failure to score on overseas tours. The Indian team has crossed the 300 mark just once in the ongoing series which they achieved in the second Test in Centurion where the pitch supported batting and was more of a subcontinent type of a pitch.

The ongoing series has been a low scoring series, but the famed Indian batting lineup has been performing poorly except for the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Kohli is the only batsman to score a century in the ongoing series. Even the South African batsmen have failed to reach the three figures.

In the ongoing match at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, the Indian batting lineup has shown great guts and potential on a pitch which is being deemed as dangerous for the batsmen. South Africa took seven runs lead in the first innings, but the Indian batsmen have shown patience and have taken blows on their bodies.

The standing umpires in the match, Ian Gould and Aleem Dar have got together on numerous occasions to discuss the condition of the pitch. Skipper from both the side have also been asked over the status of the pitch and whether the match to be continued or not.

On a pitch so unfavourable for batting the Indian team has scored over 200 runs in the third innings. This effort of the Indian batting lineup has earned them praises from former England captain Nasser Hussain who has called the Indian batting lineup skilful and brave. He tweeted:

“Two things I will say about this test. If anyone ever calls this Indian batting line up flat track bullies again, they need to be reminded of the skill and bravery they have shown in this innings.”

He also praised Rohit Sharma and wrote:

“And two. If Rohit Sharma is not a test match batsman then I have been watching a different Rohit Sharma over the last 5 years!!”
