SA vs IND 2018: We Used to Play in Such Conditions in India - Yuzvendra Chahal

India won the second ODI by nine wickets and took a 2-0 lead in the six-match ODI courtesy the Indian spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal who took eight wickets in the innings.

Hosts, South Africa was dismissed for a mere 118 the after being sent into bat first by Indian captain Virat Kohli. South Africa’s Quinton De Kock and Hashim Amla started well and were involved in a 39 runs partnership.

However, the Indian spinners had different ideas, as they rattled the South African middle order. Chahal finished with his career best figures of 5/22 in 8.5 overs.

None of the South African batsmen showed resistance except for JP Duminy and Khaya Zondo who scored 25 runs each. Both Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up one wicket each.

India lost just one wicket in the run-chase, that of Rohit Sharma who was dismissed for 15 by Kagiso Rabada. Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli then combined for a 93-run partnership and wrapped up the match for India. Dhawan scored his 24^th ODI century while Virat Kohli was unbeaten at 46. India chased down the target in 20.3 overs.

Yuzvendra Chahal was adjudged the man of the match who picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in One Day Internationals. Here is what he said in the post-match presentation:

“Enjoying bowling here. We used to play in such conditions in India. It’s about how mentally tough you are when you go overseas. When I first struck, Kuldeep came in and took two wickets. It puts pressure on the batsmen.”
