Team India opener Mayank Agarwal has made a dream start to his Test career at home with a massive century. The host banked on the opening partnership of Rohit Sharma and Mayank to take an early grip in the Test match. Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar also praised the Karnataka batsman for his hardwork since his debut.

Since his debut in Australia, Mayank has been rock solid at the top of the order. He has shown the grit and determination needed to find success at the highest level. Mayank Agarwal has fought his way scoring runs consistently in Australia and West Indies to cement his place in the playing XI.

He has stepped up to the task bestowed by the management and passed the litmus test with a century in Visakhapatnam. While the opening day belonged to Rohit Sharma, who scored a brilliant century on his Test debut as an opener, the second day surely belonged to Mayank Agarwal.

The Karnataka cricketer played a classical opener’s knock waiting for the loose deliveries to pounce on. He left deliveries outside the stump and smashed everything that was in his arc. After finishing the first day at 84*, Mayank took very little time to touch the three-figure mark.

Mayank Agarwal looked extremely pumped up as he reached his maiden Test ton while everyone in the dressing room stood up to acknowledge his hard work. Sachin Tendulkar also took to Twitter to praise the young batsman for a wonderful show. He has carried innings and looks in line to score a double century as India eye a massive first innings total.

“A good century by Mayank Agarwal. He has worked hard since his debut in Australia. The opening partnership between him & Rohit Sharma has been a joy to watch,” Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.
