Team India had a good day in business reducing South Africa to 36 for three after posting 601 for five declared on day two of the second Test in Pune. Skipper Virat Kohli stole the show with an unbeaten knock of 254 runs. Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar heaped praise on the talismanic run-scorer alongside Mayank Agarwal, who gave the host a terrific start on day one.

The South African batting, asked to bat out 15 overs in the last hour of the day’s play, would have hoped to go back without losing a wicket. But, it happened otherwise. Umesh Yadav pegged back the openers before Mohammed Shami struck off his very first ball to send three South African batsmen back in the hut. However, Theunis de Bruyn and nightwatchman Anrich Nortje was lucky enough to save the day without losing any more wickets.

Meanwhile, the opening two sessions belonged to India skipper Virat Kohli. He broke a plethora of records and earned accolades from all across the globe. Kohli now has the most double-hundreds by an Indian, and also crossed the 7000-run mark, in addition to several others.

If the second day belonged to the Delhi lad, opener Mayank Agarwal dominated day one with a fine century. It was his consecutive hundred after a double ton in the first Test against South Africa in Visakhapatnam. Sachin Tendulkar congratulated both of the star batters and urged them to keep up the good form with the bat.

“Congrats to @imVkohli on his double hundred and @mayankcricket for his hundred. Well played guys. Keep it up! #INDvsSA,” Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.
