The use of pink ball hogged most of the limelight before the start of the Test match. While the Bangladesh batters were tatters against India’s pacers, the host tackled the opponent bowlers quite tactfully throughout the game.

After bowling out Bangladesh for 106 runs riding on Ishant Sharma’s five-for, India scored 347 for nine before declaring. Virat Kohli scored his 27th Test century along with centuries from Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara to carry India’s batting after losing the openers early. Speaking at the post-match press conference, Kohli credited Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar for helping him to deal with the challenges of day-night Test.

“The afternoon session was relatively easier. Actually, I spoke to Sachin paaji on the evening of the first day and he made a very interesting point as well. Probably with the pink ball, you have to treat the second session like the morning session when it’s getting darker and the ball starts to swing and seam. So first session you invariably play like you play from lunch to tea in a normal timing test match, then the second session would be like a morning session and the last session is like that evening session,” Kohli said.

Speaking further, Virat Kohli said batting under the lights felt like playing in the Indian Premier League. The world no 2 Test batsman said that the ball came a lot faster and it felt like playing shots from the first delivery; however, Kohli said that he had to control his urge of getting started from the first ball. Kohli broke a plethora of records during his knock which is also his 20th Test century as a skipper.

“Under lights it was a different experience. When I walked out, it felt like IPL game atmosphere. You feel like smashing the first ball but you have to remind yourself that you have to play compact,” Kohli concluded.
