In a recent interview, former Pakistan batsman, Mohammad Yousuf nostalgically talks about the cricketers of his era and feels that Sachin Tendulkar was the complete batsman. He also compared the current Indian batting line-up with that of the previous decade.

God of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar needs no introduction. Tendulkar scored 15,921 runs in 200 Tests, and 18,426 runs in 463 ODIs. He is also the only batsman in the history of the game to record 100 international centuries. The batting maestro had a glorious 24-year Test career which concluded in 2013.

You don’t have that sort of bowling quality nowadays: Mohammad Yousuf

Mohammad Yousuf has opined that in any metric Sachin Tendulkar was the complete batsman he has played with or against. The 46-year-old said that he played with great batters like Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting, and Matthew Hayden, however, for Yousuf, the Tendulkar was the best amongst all.

As quoted by PTI, “When I was playing for Pakistan there were many great batsmen in those days like Brian Lara, Pointing, Hayden but I always felt that Tendulkar was in every way the most complete batsmen.”

The former Pakistani legend Mohammad Yousuf made a comparison between the current Indian batting line-up and the one he played against. The right-hander said that while Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, KL Rahul are high-quality batsmen, they are not better than the batting order comprising of Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, and Sourav Ganguly.

He based this assertion because Yousuf believes that the quality of bowling has decreased and it is not as difficult as it was in his era. He feels that the game is more batting-friendly than it was earlier.

“Kohli, Sharma, Pujara, (KL) Rahul are all quality batsmen but if I compare, the Indian batting (line-up) of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Laxman, Ganguly was better. You don’t have that sort of bowling quality nowadays, cricket has changed a lot and things are different now,” Mohammad Yousuf added.

After the conclusion of the IPL, the Indian team will travel to Australia for a full-fledged tour comprising of 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is, and 4 Tests. The limited-overs leg will begin on 27th November, while the highly-awaited Test series will commence on 17th December.

The batting line-up will be under huge pressure as skipper, Virat Kohli is set to leave Australia after the first Test. He will be attending the birth of his child in early January.
