Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary Indian cricketer, has hailed West Indies captain Jason Holder for his decision to introduce spin in the form of Roston Chase in the first session of the 2nd Test against England in Old Trafford.

The pitch at Old Trafford has shown signs of favoring the spin bowlers from the very outset. Interestingly, Jason Holder had won the toss and decided to bowl first in order to let his fast bowlers make use of the damp pitch.

With the ball barely carrying to the keeper on a multitude of occasions, Holder brought Roston Chase into the attack and the move immediately paid dividends as the off-spinner went on to dismiss opener Rory Burns on the last ball before the Lunch break before dismissing Zak Crawley on the very first delivery of the post-lunch session.

Heaping praise on Jason Holder, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar took to his Twitter account where he wrote-

“In the 1st session I noticed a few balls didn’t even carry to the keeper off fast bowlers indicating a lot of dampness in the pitch. Smart move by @Jaseholder98 to bring on a spinner on such a track where the oddball may grip and the other may go straight. #ENGvWI,” Tendulkar wrote on Twitter.

This is not the first time that Sachin Tendulkar has heaped high praise on the West Indies captain. Recently, during a live interaction with West Indies legend Brian Lara, Tendulkar had hailed Holder as a ‘most under-rated’ all-rounder.

‘Jason Holder is the most underrated all-rounder, because on the field, maybe you will look at Kemar Roach or Shannon Gabriel, but Jason Holder only when you look at the scoreboard, you realize that he has come in and taken three wickets,” Tendulkar told Brian Lara during the chat on Master Blaster’s app ‘100 MB’.
