Sachin Tendulkar was one of the best to have embraced the game.

Tendulkar kept working hard on his game and soon he was the talk of the town for his performances. The talisman kept getting stronger in his batting and he was able to borne fruits for his hard yards.

“When I was a student, the only thing in my mind was to play for India. My journey started at the age of eleven,” Tendulkar was quoted as saying by PTI while interacting with the students of Late Laxmanrao Dure school in western Maharashtra.  “I even remember when I went for my first selection trails, I was not selected by the selectors. They had said that he will need to work hard and improve his game,” he added.

The former Indian opener added that his hunger to perform better-increased manifolds after he was rejected in his maiden selection trails. Tendulkar went back to his training and came back stronger to get a call-up.

“At that time I was disappointed because I thought I had batted well, but the result was not as per expectation and I was not selected. But after that my focus, commitment, and capacity to work hard increased further. If you want to realize your dreams, then short-cuts won’t help,” he added.

It was because of his hard work that Sachin Tendulkar went on to become the World’s best batsman. Yes, he had talent in him but it was also hard work that separated him from the rest. After all, it is well said, hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.
