Chennai Super Kings are batting first for the 1st time in the 2020 IPL and everyone was left surprised when all-rounder Sam Curran was sent to open the innings alongside Faf du Plessis against SunRisers Hyderabad.

Curran was sent to tee off in the first six overs and give the Super Kings a platform that they have dearly missed in this years IPL thus far.

The English seam-bowling all-rounder started off tentatively against Sandeep Sharma, who got to ball to move in his opening spell.

Curran was eventually dismissed by Sandeep Sharma but not before the southpaw had given an ideal platform courtesy his 21-ball 31.

Even though he struggled against Sharma, Sam Curran ensured that he took full toll on Khaleel Ahmed by smashing him for three fours and two monstrous sixes. Ahmed pitched short and Curran was more than up to the task as he dished out his pull stroke with disdain.

Curran was looking prime for a brilliant half-century before Sandeep Sharma gatecrashed his party with a brute of delivery; one that jagged back in considerably from the length to bamboozle the southpaw’s stumps.

This was Sandeep Sharma’s second wicket of the innings. The right-hander had previously dismissed Faf du Plessis for a golden duck. At the time of writing CSK were 2-63 in 8.4 overs.
