Team India cricketer Kuldeep Yadav had a tough ride in the last few months and had to sit out of the national team. As he gears up to make a comeback during the West Indies series, former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar has urged skipper Virat Kohli and head coach Sanjay Bangar to back the young left-arm leg-spinner. India play West Indies in three T20Is starting from December 6 followed by the same number of ODI games.

Kuldeep’s rough patch began from the Indian Premier League (IPL) earlier this year when batsmen started to read his deliveries, and he went for plenty of runs. Eventually, his franchise Kolkata Knight Riders had to make the young cricketer sit out which took a toll on his confidence. The poor continued during the ICC World Cup 2019 and eventually, after another failure against West Indies post the World Cup, the management decided to give him a break.

I am a fan of Kuldeep Yadav: Sanjay Bangar

After playing enough domestic cricket, Kuldeep Yadav is back in the reckoning and will hope live upto the expectation against West Indies. Ahead of that, he has got the support of his former coach Sanjay Bangar, who admits that he is a big fan of his bowling. Bangar pointed out the positive in Kuldeep’s bowling and said that if he gets going, it is difficult to stop him.

“I’m a massive Kuldeep Yadav fan and in terms of strike rates, you see he is the quickest to 100 ODI wickets and even in the shorter format, if you look at the match we won in England, he picked up five wickets at a time where the opposition was running away with the match, Bangar said to Star Sports.

Furthermore, Sanjay Bangar feels that the upcoming Indian Premier League is going to be crucial for Kuldeep Yadav. Bangar believes his performance in IPL 2020 will decide his participation in the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia which follows the IPL. The former India all-rounder also stated that if Kuldeep gets going, then he can be India’s trump card during the 20-over competition.

“I wouldn’t count out Kuldeep Yadav, it’s just that he’s had a couple of poor games in the IPL last season. For him, this IPL is going to be a massive factor and if he does really well, it will be very hard to keep him out,” he concluded.
