Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed feels the upcoming home series with Sri Lanka has the potential to stand as one of the major highlights in his glittering career for the Green Army. Ahmed believes that upcoming Friday would be one of the best days in his cricketing career, as he gets the opportunity to lead Pakistan in his homeland. He wants a full house for the home game supporting the return of international cricket to the town.

History will be made on Friday – Sarfaraz Ahmed

Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed urged the cricket fans to come out in large numbers. Especially, as the country gets ready to host a bilateral series after ten years. Pakistan will take on Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series which kicks-off from September 27 in Karachi.

“History will be made on Friday. When Karachi will host the first bilateral ODI series since January 2009. I request all local cricket fans to be part of history. So that they can tell the next generation that they were at the National Stadium when an international series was played,” ICC quoted Sarfaraz as saying.

“I can’t wait for Friday. It will mark the memorable occasion. I hope when I walk out, I have a full house behind me, not only cheering me but both the sides,” he added.

Since the terror attacks in Lahore in 2009, Pakistan have been forced to play home matches away from the country. The last ODI series to take place in the nation was in 2015 when a Zimbabwe side visited in 2015.

Even Now, Sri Lanka have named their ‘B-team’ for the Pakistan tour keeping the security fears in mind. Star players Niroshan Dickwella, Dinesh Chandimal, Dimuth Karunaratne. Lasith Malinga and Angelo Mathews had all deliberately missed the bus to Pakistan, who are hosting a 50-overs series for the first time since 2015.
