The Mumbai youngster Prithvi Shaw would feature in the two-day warm-up game against the Windies and would look to score good in the quest to get selected for the Test series. Also, the right-handed batsman says people expect him to hit a hundred as scoring fifties wouldn’t keep anyone happy
However, Shaw received his maiden Test call for the fourth and fifth Test against England. The 18-year old further revealed how he felt like on the first day in the dressing room, and how players helped him get comfortable.
“I wasn’t expecting the Test call-up. Obviously, playing for your country is always a dream. There are players who have been part of the Indian team for 5-10 years. I landed in the evening and wasn’t able to meet anyone till the day after when I went and greeted everybody during breakfast. It took some time for the feeling to sink in. I was nervous and didn’t know what to say. I was quiet the whole day. But the dressing room vibe is brilliant. It’s a chilled environment, and everybody kept me comfortable.” Prithvi Shaw said.
Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw is mentally ready to grab the opportunity if he gets a chance to make his debut for his nation in the forthcoming Windies Tests, which begins on October 4th.
Prithvi, who recently scored his maiden List A ton said the approach has to stay positive, and that he is ready to wait for his turn.
“Actually, I didn’t think about it. I just told myself, if the chance comes I will be ready to grab it. I had prepared myself mentally.” Shaw added.
“The approach is still to be positive and to try and play my game. I play the ball as per merit. And given a chance, I will always play my shots.” Prithvi added.
