Team India will start their ICC World Test Championship campaign on Wednesday with the first Test against West Indies in Antigua. India, who are currently the top-ranked Test side, will be the firm favourites for the upcoming game. The Virat Kohli-led side are yet to lose a single game on this tour, having won the T20Is and ODIs 3-0 and 2-0 respectively. Recent history is also in India’s favour. West Indies have not beaten India since 2002.

India’s record in recent times is really dominating. India has the best win-loss ratio and winning percentage in Test cricket since 2016. They won 23 and lost just 8 of the 38 Tests they have played in this period.

India also havethe best win-loss ratio in terms of series winning 8 of the 10 they played in the period.  During this period, India beat New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Australia, England, West Indies and Bangladesh to assert their authority. Earlier this year, India also won their maiden Test series on the Australian soil.

Unsurprisingly, India head to the match as firm favourites. However, taking West Indies lightly could prove very costly for the visitors. Earlier this year, West Indies thoroughly outplayed fancied England to win a remarkable series. In familiar conditions, the Caribbean outfit is going to be a force to reckon with. Well, only time will tell whether India live up to their favourite tag or West Indies stun another heavyweight.
