Selectors Had a Word With Me Before Selection - Mayank Agarwal

Karnataka’s talisman batsman Mayank Agarwal revealed the Indian selectors had a word with him before selection of the squad for the tour of Australia. The right-hander was included in the Test squad for the two-match Test series against Windies. However, he didn’t get his chance in India’s playing XI.

Meanwhile, Agarwal has been knocking hard at the selection doors. Agarwal has done everything to earn his place in the Indian side. He has come up with giant performances in the domestic circuit and if there is one player who deserves to be in the side, it is Mayank Agarwal.

Mayank Agarwal has been unfortunate to miss out.

However, the Indian selectors continued with their peculiar selection policy. The MSK Prasad panel went on to overlook Agarwal who has ticked all the right boxes that need to be checked to be in the Indian team.

Therefore, it is a difficult pill to swallow for the Karnataka batsman after performing to the best of his abilities. Thus, it is crucial for Mayank to not veer off the track and keep his focus intact. Scoring the runs is in his hands and that’s all he can do to give a push to his envelope’s name.

Mayank Agarwal said he turns up to Rahul Dravid in such situations. However, Agarwal was able to make the cut into India A squad for the tour of New Zealand.

“I am going to play to the best of my ability like I play every game of cricket,” explained Mayank on the mindset with which he will approach the games,” Mayank Agarwal said while talking to Times Now.

On the other hand, Agarwal is also trying his hands at bowling. Agarwal wants to add more arrows to his quiver and he is looking forward to being a complete package.

“Yes I do bowl (off-spin) a bit but yes I am going to take it up seriously. I do make sure that I bowl about 45 minutes to an hour in the nets every day.”

Mayank Agarwal is bit unfortunate to miss out on the squad as he has consistently scored a bucketful of runs for Karnataka and India A.
