Veteran politician Subramanian Swamy has lashed out at ‘jealous Indians’ after MS Dhoni’s future took another turn. The speculations are rife over the former India skipper’s retirement ever since the World Cup ended in July. At first, there were reports that MS Dhoni would hang up his boots at the end of India’s campaign in the tournament.

But MS Dhoni being MS Dhoni left everyone surprised by taking a sabbatical from the game and then went on to extend it. There was absolutely no clarity over his future as neither him, nor the the selectors made things clear. MS Dhoni missed the tour of West Indies and then the home series against South Africa but still remained in the spotlight.

Well, things became a bit clear on Thursday when the MSK Prasad-led selection panel announced the T20I and the Test squads for the upcoming series against Bangladesh. Prasad made it clear that the selectors are moving on from Dhoni and will try out youngsters. Consequently, the retained Rishabh Pant in the team and recalled Sanju Samson as a backup.

“We are moving on,” Prasad said after announcing the squads for the upcoming series against Bangladesh. “Going into domestic cricket, getting his touch back or thoughts about retirement, everything is purely his personal [decision].

“We’ve already laid the roadmap for the future, I’m sure you can see in the way we are selecting the teams. We definitely had a chat with Dhoni and he also endorses our view of backing youngsters,” he added.

And while Prasad has made things more or less clear, senior BJP leader and member of Rajya Sabha Subramanian Swamy is not at all happy with the treatment meted out to Dhoni. Mr Swamy took to Twitter to call Dhoni’s critics jealous, writing:

“The treatment of M.S.Dhoni is reflective of the ingrained jealousy of Indians. Ungrateful wretches!”
