Shakib Al Hasan, former Bangladesh skipper and champion all-rounder, is all set to return to training at the BKSV facility at Savar next month, ahead of his return to competitive cricket.

Shakib is currently serving his two year [one year was suspended] suspension for his failure to report the corruption approaches by bookies on two separate occasions in 2018. His ban is due to end on October 29.

“Shakib will come to the BKSP next month where he will have coaches and trainers available,” Nazmul Abedeen, Shakib Al Hasan’s mentor, was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

According to Abedeen, who has served as Bangladesh Cricket Board’s development manager and also as Shakib’s earliest coaches, the all-rounder is set to return from the United States of America to Dhaka at the end of August.

“We are functional as the coaches are all residing within the campus, so we can work with him well. Shakib will have everything at his disposal,” he added.

Shakib Al Hasan was in brilliant touch when he was handed the suspension last year. The stylish left-handed batsman was one of three batsmen to rack up more than 600 runs [606] in the 2019 World Cup in England. The former captain has thus far featured in 56 Tests, claiming 210 wickets besides scoring 3862 runs.

In white-ball cricket, Shakib has 6323 runs and 260 wickets to his name in 206 ODIs. He has also accumulated 1567 T20I runs besides claiming 92 wickets in 76 games.
