Bangladesh Test and T20I captain, Shakib Al Hasan, has failed to recover and has been ruled out of the Nidahas Trophy.

He is suffering from a finger injury which he suffered during the final of tri-series in January.

He has been replaced by Litton Das.

He was first ruled out of the Test series and then went onto miss T20I series as well.

Mahmudullah, who stood for him during the T20I series, will continue to captain the side.

Shakib was also recently appointed as the Test captain but hasn’t played any Test since taking over the role on a permanent basis.

He replaced Mushfiqur Rahim in the job.

Shakib’s absence is a big blow for the side, who recently suffered a whitewash in the T20I series against Sri Lanka.

The hosts lost the first wicket by six wickets while Sri Lanka ended the tour with a win by 75 runs in the second T20I.

Shakib would be hoping to get fit for IPL where he will join the one-time champion team, Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He was joined by the franchise for an amount of Rs 2 Crore.

This will be the first time when he will play for this franchise.

The Nidahas Trophy starts on March 6 with India taking on Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh will play the first game on March 8 against India.

All the matches will be played at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

The final of the tournament is scheduled to be played on March 18.
