Sakshi Dhoni, wife of cricket superstar MS Dhoni, has lashed out at the media houses for spreading false news. Her reaction comes just hours after news of MS Dhoni donating money for needy people to combat coronavirus pandemic started doing the rounds.
Media reports suggested that the former India skipper has donated Rs 1 lakh via crowdfunding website Ketto to the Mukul Madhav Foundation, public charitable trust in Pune. The city has been one of the worst-affected cities by the outbreak in India. So far more than 15 positive cases of the novel coronavirus have been reported in the city.
Reports also claimed that MS Dhoni’s donation will be used to provide basic grocery essentials to the families of daily wage workers in the city. The foundation reportedly identified several families across Pune, who will be helped by MS Dhoni’s donation.
However, it looks like the news was fake. Sakshi Dhoni took to Twitter to slam the media houses for spreading fake news. While she did not reveal the news she was talking about, it is pretty clear that she was mentioning the news of her husband’s donation.
“I request all media houses to stop carrying out false news at sensitive times like these ! Shame on You ! I wonder where responsible journalism has disappeared !,” wrote Sakshi Dhoni in her strongly-worded tweet.

Before the tweet from Sakshi Dhoni, MS Dhoni was also slammed by a number of fans after news came out that he donated only 1 lakh. Meanwhile, the cricket fraternity has stepped up to help the country during the testing times. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Gautam Gambhir, Shikhar Dhawan and Pathan brothers – Irfan and Yusuf – helped the needy.
Gambhir and Tendulkar has pledged to donate Rs 50 lakh for the cause while Ganguly has pledged to donate rice worth Rs 50 lakh. On the other hand, Yusuf and Irfan have donated face masks while Dhawan has donated to the Prime Minister’s relief fund and urged others to contribute.
