Former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond is likely to link with England as a bowling consultant during their upcoming tour of New Zealand. It will be a massive boost up for the English side who will be keen to win the series after failing to retain the Ashes.
Notably, Bond has earlier worked with the England team. The former Kiwi cricketer worked in the same capacity for the first two Tests of the 2017-18 Ashes before Chris Silverwood became England’s fast-bowling coach. Shane Bond will come back to occupy the same post after Silverwood became England’s next head coach.
Bond has a good relationship in the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), which worked in his favour. Besides, he has good knowledge of the conditions in New Zealand which will be of great help to the English bowlers.
Currently, Shan Bond is employed with the Sydney Thunder as the head coach in the Big Bash League. Although it won’t be a problem as the upcoming BBL will kick-off a fortnight after the last scheduled day of England’s tour.
Bond is one of New Zealand’s greatest fast bowler’s of all time. The 44-year-old former cricketer has over 250 international wickets to his name and bowled at a good pace giving nightmares to the batsmen of his generation.
Shane Bond will link up with the likes of Jofra Archer, Stuart Broad, and James Anderson to help them get used to the conditions as England will be keen to bounce back in the ICC World Test Championship. England will play five T20Is and two Tests against New Zealand starting from November 1.
