The 35-year-old from off-spinner from Windies, Shane Shillingford has been suspended from bowling with immediate effect due to his illegal actions, Cricket Windies confirmed on January 4 (Friday). An independent assessment revealed that Shillingford’s ball exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under playing regulations.

Meanwhile, Shillingford’s action came under the scanner during the first-round match of Windies’ domestic four-day tournament in St Lucia last month. He returned with impressive figures of 5 for 115; however, his side lost to Guyana by 125 runs. However, before the actions came under the scanner, Shane Shillingford bagged six-fers in both the innings against Trinidad and Tobago.

This is, however, the third time that Shane Shillingford’s has been reported. In December 2010, he was suspended from bowling after his action was found to be illegal following independent analysis in Perth. He underwent remedial action and was cleared by the ICC in June 2011, before being reported again in 2013, during the tour of New Zealand.
