The ICC World Cup 2019 in England and Wales have finally started to take a grip among the cricket lovers. The tournament has started with a bang with England setting standards early in the competition. As the tournament steps on its second week, legendary cricketer Shane Warne has picked all-time World Cup XI with players he has played.

Warne reveals his dream XI

The former Australia cricketer has picked left hand-right hand combination of Adam Gilchrist and Sachin Tendulkar to open the innings. Tendulkar is arguably the best cricketers to play the game while Gilchrist is the best wicket-keeper batsman and will form a lethal pair at the top. They have over 27000 ODI runs together and can terrorise any bowling attack of the world.

Former Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting will follow the openers while Brian Lara, Mark Waugh, and Kumar Sangakkara will form the middle order. Ponting is one of the best batters to have batted in that position while Lara, Waugh, and Sangakkara is the best to bat at four, five, and six. Lara is arguably the best left-handed batsman while Waugh’s ability to score at will makes him one of the best in the business. On the other hand, Sangakkara is one of the best left-handed Sri Lankan batsmen to play cricket. He has scored tons of runs and will slot into any playing XI.

Meanwhile, Andre Flintoff, Shahid Afridi will be the two all-rounders in Shane Warne’s team while Wasim Akram, Muttiah Muralitharan, and Glenn McGrath will form the bowling unit. Akram and McGrath are the two best swing bowlers to have played the game while Muralitharan will slot in as the highest wicket-taker in the ODIs.
