Former Australian legendary leg-spinner Shane Warne has tried his hand to name Australia best Test side before the return of Steven Smith and David Warner. Warne named Aaron Finch as the captain of the side. Interestingly, Finch recently made his Test debut in the ongoing Test series against Pakistan. The right-hander will open the innings with D’Arcy Short, who is yet to make his debut in the red ball version.

Meanwhile, Usman Khawaja takes the one down position. Khawan had scored a fine hundred in the first Test match to save Australia from the loss. Thus, Khawaja had also broken in the top ten batsmen list of the ICC Test rankings.

Warne tries two attempts at Australia’s best side.

Shaun Marsh takes the fourth position in the batting order. In fact, there is no place for Mitchell Marsh in Shane Warne’s team, who was recently named as vice-captain of the Australian side.

Australia’s all-rounder Marcus Stoinis takes up the fifth place in the side. Meanwhile, Alex Carey takes up the wicketkeeping responsibilities for the team. Therefore, there is no place for current captain Tim Paine.

There will be five bowlers in Shane Warne’s team. The young southpaw spinner Ashton Agar also makes the cut along with Nathan Lyon. Lyon has done a fine job for the Australian side as he is their first choice spinner.

Meanwhile, the pace battery involves Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, who was also appointed as the vice-captain of the side. Interestingly, it looks like an ODI side as Tim Paine, Mitchell March, Matthew Renshaw are missing from Shane Warne’s side. In fact, Shane Warne shared one more team in which there is a place for Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell. Paine also makes it in the second Team of Warne.

Warne took to Twitter to share his Australia Test side. The former leg-spinner post read as, “Thinking of my best test team before Warner & Smith return. What about this for a first up attempt? As I said this is just my initial thoughts & not a lock. Head? Maxwell? Anyone else? Finch (c) Short Khawaja Marsh S Stoinis Carey (wk) Agar Cummins Starc Lyon Hazlewood.
