Shane Warne Will Bring the Best Out of Rajasthan Royals Feels Mohammad Kaif

Former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif was part of the Rajasthan Royals outfit when the franchise lifted the IPL title in the inaugural edition in 2008. Having played under Shane Warne, Kaif is confident of the fact that the newly appointed coach will bring out the best from the current squad. Warne was the captain cum coach of the Rajasthan Royals outfit when they lifted the title in 2008.

“Shane Warne has magical abilities; he knows the pulse of players and can bring out the best from a batsman, bowler, fielder or a wicketkeeper,” said Kaif.

Incidentally, Kaif was the most expensive Rajasthan Royals player in the first edition of the tournament. The Natwest hero further added that Rajasthan had produced great talents time and again but what has been lacking is the presence of a mentor. Kaif feels the inclusion of Warne will solve the problem. He further added that Warne would make them progress in their careers pretty successfully.

He also heaped praises on some young emerging talents. It included the likes of Kamlesh Nagarkoti who produced the KKR bought a sensational performance in the ICC U19 World Cup/ Nagarkoti for Rs 3.2 crores. Youngster Khaleel Ahmed also bagged Rs 3 crores and was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

“Rajasthan needs to have someone who can handhold these talents, show right guidance and prove to be a right mentor. When I played under-19 in UP, there was number of players who came up to polish my talent. Similarly, Rajasthan too needs to have a local hero, who can be an inspiration for youngsters, he said.

Kaif was asked about his opinion on players who creates hype in one season and disappears in the next season. He further added that IPL had changed the contours of the game.

“This game needs different skill-sets, those who perform earn name and fame, while the underperformers vanish,” he said. He gave the example of Tymal Mills who was bought for Rs 12 crores last year. However this year he didn’t had any buyers.

He feels to survive in the world of IPL; players need to come up with new skills but keep the basics intact. Kaif further stated that the current Rajasthan team is the best team at the moment.

“During the first season, there were players who were not known by anyone, and this team, picked up, is the best mix of experience and young brigade and hence make a balanced side. After two year, the team will be hungry to give their best and it might repeat the success of the first year,” he added.
