Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson is a prominent name in world cricket. Even as he retired from international cricket back in 2016, the 38-year old all-rounder continues to feature in almost all the T20 leagues all over the world and continues to make his mark. And, understandably, the burly all-rounder would have played under several captains, but he picked the two best leaders that he featured under. Shane Watson, due to his potency in all facets of the game, is considered as one of the greatest all-rounders to grace the game.

In a chat with ESPN Cricinfo, Watson named four of the best captains he played under; however, he handpicked MS Dhoni and Rahul Dravid as his most cherished ones. The two other stalwarts from his list included his fellow countrymen, Ricky Ponting and Shane Warne. The Queenslander has also played under the likes of Virat Kohli and Steven Smith, but didn’t include them in their elite list.

The Indian Premier League in 2008 gave birth to Shane Watson becoming one of the most valuable cricketers for the years to come. Watson played a chief role in Rajasthan Royals’ title triumph in the inaugural season of the cash-rich league. He received the man of the tournament in that edition for his all-round show for the franchise.

Watson took over as the captain of Rajasthan after Rahul Dravid retired from the competition. The Aussie moved on to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2016 and 2017 before shifting his base to Chennai Super Kings for the subsequent two years. As the player, Watson has been part of Rajasthan Royals when they clinched the title in 2008 and Chennai Super Kings in 2018. The veteran all-rounder would feature again for the three-time IPL title holders in the forthcoming season of the IPL.
