Shikhar Dhawan Scales New Heights as he Achieves Career-Best Test Ranking

Courtesy to his blistering knock of 107 runs against Afghanistan in the one-off Test, Shikhar Dhawan has moved up the rankings ladder.

The southpaw India opener scaled new heights, as he achieved his career best Test rankings. Thus, Dhawan gained ten places to move to the 24th place in the latest ICC Test rankings.

Dhawan was on fire in the one-off Test match against Afghanistan. In fact, the left-handed opener became the first Indian and sixth overall batsman to score a century in the opening session of the Test match.

Furthermore, Dhawan’s teammate Murali Vijay and Ravindra Jadeja also made significant gains in the Test rankings. India opener Murali Vijay jumped six places to occupy the 23rd place after he scored a fine knock of 105 runs against Afghanistan.

Vijay was out of form, and thus he returned to his best in the one-off Test.

On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja moved up by one place. The southpaw spinner is at the third place after taking a four-for in the second innings of the Afghanistan innings. Jadeja’s spin partner Ravichandran Ashwin continues to be at the fifth place with 811 rating points.

Meanwhile, Indian fast bowlers also showed an upward swing in the latest Test rankings.

Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma jumped two places to take the 26th and 25th rank, respectively. Both the fast bowlers jolted the Afghan team with early breakthroughs. Furthermore, India continues to be the best Test side in the world.

Australia’s Steven Smith is at the summit of the batsmen Test rankings. Indian skipper Virat Kohli is perched at the second place.

Cheteshwar Pujara is at the sixth place while KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane are at 18th and 19th position, respectively.
