Team India opener Shikhar Dhawan is not going through a great time. After consecutive poor outings with the bat in limited-overs, Dhawan’s place in the side for the upcoming series against West Indies hangs by the wire. The Men in Blues will play three Twenty20 Internationals starting from December 6 followed by three One Day Internationals against the team from the Caribbean Islands.

Dhawan’s recent form with the bat has been a cause of concern for the Indian team management. He was starting to find his stride in the World Cup, having scored a swashbuckling century against Australia at the Oval in London. However, a finger injury in the same match forced him out of the entire tournament. Since then, Shikhar Dhawan has struggled to get into the flow.

Shikhar Dhawan suffers injury

The 34-year-old struggled to put runs on the board in the series against South Africa and Bangladesh which raised questions about his place in the playing XI. Many felt Dhawan’s confidence has gone down after losing his place in the Test squad which has also hurt his strike-rate in the limited-overs. Moreover, the southpaw’s form has dipped further in the domestic circuit with scores of 0, 9, 19, and 35 in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Meanwhile, bad times continue to pile on Shikhar Dhawan as he suffered a nasty injury in his leg. Although he had his treatment done but will remain out of action for the next five days. As a result, Dhawan will miss the next few days games for Delhi in the domestic T20 competition. He returned to playing domestic cricket to find his touch back but has failed to do so. However, the ever-confident Dhawan is hopeful to make a strong comeback.

“We Fall, We Break, but then…. We Rise. We heal and we overcome, and the only thing you have control over is how you respond to any situation. Here’s to being positive and happy in every situation that life throws at you. Will be back in action in 4-5 days,” Shikhar Dhawan tweeted.
