In the wake of the Pulwama attack on February 14th, the situation has become tensed across the border. On Tuesday (February 26th), IAF launched an air strike over Balakot (POK); resulting in bombing the claimed Jaish-eh-Mohammad’s camps. Retaliating this, Pakistan also opened the firing at the LOC on the next day. Meanwhile, as per reports, the Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan has urged talks between both the countries to end crises. Further,  on social media, the tag of #SayNoToWar is trending and veteran fast bowler, Shoaib Akhtar has endorsed the same. Hailing PM over this thought, Akhtar has said,

“Better sense should prevail”. A very sensible offer from Prime Minister

What happened during the Pulwama attack?

On February 14th (Thursday), a jeep carrying around 300 kgs of explosives ran into an Army Convoy, resulting in an explosion. At the spot, around 42 CRPF personals got martyred, and dozens got injured. Minutes after the deadly attack got carried, the terrorist group, Jaish-eh-Mohammad claimed responsibility for the same. Though at the time, the Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan didn’t share the condolences; 13 days later, when India had responded by bombing Jaish-eh-Mohammad’s camps, he had asked for a meeting to end such crises.

What future holds of the current situation?

The officials from both countries are yet to respond or held talks on the same. India, who had been a victim of such attacks in the past have been vocal this time. As far as cricketing ties are concerned, many of the politicians and former cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly have spoken on Pulwama attacks. Though initially the thought of boycotting Pakistan and even banning them from the 2019 World Cup hogged the limelight; after India took the revenge, it seems to get under the mat as of now.

However, the BCCI had written to the ICC about urging other countries to not play Pakistan at the mega event. The final outcome on the same is yet to come out, as the governing body will hold talks about India-Pakistan clash the 2019 World Cup.
