Shoaib Akhtar has slammed Pakistan for their ’embarrassing’ loss to Zimbabwe in the third ODI on Tuesday. The visitors ended their 10-match losing streak by beating the hosts in the super over to cap a thrilling game in Rawalpindi. The three-match series has ended 2-1 in Pakistan’s favour.

Blessing Muzarabani made the difference with the ball in the super over. Having taken five wickets earlier in the game, he grabbed two wickets off four balls in the super over as Pakistan managed to score only two runs off the fast bowler. Brendan Taylor and Sikandar Raza then wrapped up the game for Zimbabwe in three balls.

Earlier in the match, Pakistan’s No 10 batsman Mohammad Musa hit a four off the last ball against Richard Ngarava to tie the scores as the hosts ended up at 278-9 in reply to Zimbabwe’s total of 278 for 6. Skipper Babar Azam led from the front, scoring run-a-ball 125 that helped Pakistan recover from a disastrous start.

Babar was well supported by Wahab Riaz who scored 52 off 55 balls. Earlier in the game, Sean Williams scored 118 off 135 balls to help his side put up a competitive total. Fast-bowler Mohammad Hasnain had impressed with the ball for Pakistan, taking 5 for 26.

Shoaib Akhtar slams Pakistan:

Following the loss, Shoaib Akhtar took to Twitter to slam Babar Azam & Co. for the defeat. Calling the loss embarrassing, the bowling legend stated that losing to Zimbabwe is an issue. He also rued that Pakistan were not expressive as he asked the players to change their mentality, tweeting:

“Embarrassing. Losing to Zimbabwe is an issue. You lose some, you win some however you have to be progressive. We weren’t expressive. Change your mentality before you become history ..”

Both the teams will now lock horns in a three-match T20I series. The series will get underway on Saturday (November 7).
