Shubman Gill Eyes India Berth with Consistent Performances

Of late, Shubman Gill has been the regular headliner in the domestic circuit. He is utilising every opportunity to the perfection by knocking decent scores for his side. Meanwhile, he believes he is all ready to play for team India and wants to knock the selector’s door with big tallies on a regular basis.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill knocked a stunning century in the chase against India A in the Deodhar Trophy to shoulder India C to the finals of the tournament. It was also the only century of the Deodhar Trophy while the next best is Dinesh Karthik’s 99.

It was a high-pressure chase, as the team already lost their key players during the course. However, Shubman Gill carried the team with an exceptional knock. Speaking after the game, the stylish right-hander quoted saying to PTI that,

“I am ready. I did not get the opportunity against the West Indies, but I might get one in the next series.”

Further, Shubman Gill also spoke on his performances in the recent domestic tournaments and also added he is waiting for the call-up. He quoted he was disappointed for not getting picked against the Windies but wants to make it in the upcoming series.

“It (recent good run in domestic cricket) could have been better though. I had a good Vijay Hazare season where I got three half-centuries and one ton. Twice I got out in the 80s, I regret not converting them into big scores. Two fifties and two hundred would have been great to get,” Gill told India Today in an exclusive chat.

“But there is a long season ahead after the ongoing Deodhar matches which will be followed by Ranji Trophy, then India ‘A’ tour and domestic T20s. I am preparing well for it and keeping myself fit. I have to keep performing to knock on the doors of the Indian dressing room,” he added.

However, it has been a pretty good season so far for the youngster. Hopefully, he will continue the same and bring his name on the selector’s table for the future series.
