India U19 Team beat Sri Lanka by six wickets in the first game of the five-match series.

The India U-19 boys thrashed Sri Lanka in the first of the five-match ODI series in the youth ODI’s.

After winning both the youth Tests, India was always going to be the favourites for the ODI series. It was yet another convincing performance by the junior boys, as they romped home by six wickets with nearly 13 overs to spare. Courtesy the victory, India takes a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

It was Sri Lanka skipper, Nipun Dananjaya who won the toss and opted to bat. Mohit Jangra, the speedster provided the opening two breakthroughs for India, as the junior Sri Lankan boys got beaten for pace.

Moreover, there was never a partnership which got going between the Sri Lankan batters.

India made light work of the total

Barring the skipper who scored 33 off 45 deliveries, there was not a single batter who could get going. In the end, it was Nipun Malinga who scored a 39-ball 38 which helped Sri Lanka claw their way towards the 150-mark.

However, they fell seven runs short and were bowled out for 143 in the 39th over. It was a sensational bowling effort by the young India team. Hence, it allowed them to bowl the Lankans out for a meagre total.

For the young Indian boys, Ajay Dev Goud was the pick of the bowlers bagging three wickets. Mohit Jangra, Yatin Mangwani and Ayush Badoni bagged a couple of wickets each, as Sri Lanka got restricted to a pretty paltry total.

The target was always going to be too less for the Indian teenagers. For India, Anuj Rawat, the opener scored an 85-ball half-century before getting dismissed. He played the role of the sheet anchor.

The visitors didn’t require to smash the ball, as the target was well within the manageable limit. Sameer Chaudhary remained unbeaten on 31 off 35 deliveries which studded with for three fours and a six.
