SLC Invites Sachin Tendulkar to Witness Nidahas Trophy 2018

The Sri Lankan Cricket Board (SLC) has invited Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar to witness the ongoing Nidahas Trophy 2018.

The tri-series is being played between Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh to celebrate 70 years of Sri Lanka’s independence.

“We have made a special request to Sachin Tendulkar to arrive and witness the few matches. He has a very busy schedule ahead, and therefore he is yet to confirm the invitation. Sachin has sent a special greeting and message on the occasion of Sri Lanka’s 70-year of independence and SLC celebrating the 70 years of cricket in this nation. We’ll ever cherish Sachin’s message,” Thilanga Sumithipala, SLC President said, as reported by Bipin Dani, a cricket journalist from India.

Tendulkar is yet to confirm his arrival to the country.

It is to be noted he is the brand ambassador of Mumbai T20 league, which starts on March 11. He would be present in Mumbai on the opening day of the league.

Since the final of the Mumbai league is scheduled to be played on March 21, Tendulkar might arrive in Sri Lanka in the midst of the second week of March or on the final day.

The final game of Nidahas Trophy will be played on March 18. The tri-series has already started with India taking on the hosts Sri Lanka.

The visiting side did not have a great start and lost two quick wickets at a score of nine.

Meanwhile, political issues jeopardised staging of the tournament in the country.

The Government of Sri Lanka has imposed emergency in the country for ten days.

The series is on as of yet and can be called off anytime, depending on the situation in the country.

BCCI also said it will keep a check on the situation and will keep fans updated. After today’s game, the next match of the tri-series will be played between India and Bangladesh on March 8.
