It was a good game for Tabraiz Shamsi on the other day at Mohali. The flamboyant cricketer feels that it is a matter of time for the team to settle before showing their class in the final game of the series against India. With short boundaries on offer, Tabraiz Shamsi believes the batsmen are in a spot of bother.

Shamsi returned with figures of 1/19 in three overs during the second T20I in Mohali and is now looking forward to drawing the series level at the Chinnaswamy Stadium which used to be his “home ground” until a couple of seasons back when he used to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Speaking of his experience with Royal Challengers Bangalore at the same ground, a couple of years ago, Shamsi believes that short boundaries will mentally put pressure on the batsmen, as the fans would expect a high-scoring game. He feels bowlers are the party spoilers for the T20I game.

Further, he went on to add saying that he learned a lot by rubbing shoulders with the likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Shane Watson during his stay with Royal Challengers. He feels that the knowledge regarding the venue would help him to sort things out for South Africa.

“I feel it puts all the more pressure on the batsman to go out there and do what people want to see. So as bowlers, we are just there to spoil the party and make sure that we execute our plans well. Chinnaswamy is a small stadium and I mean it’s a T20 series, so people obviously are coming there to see batsmen hit fours and sixes. They are not there to see you bowl a maiden over and that’s what it’s all about,” he told PTI in an interview.

“Definitely, it helps when you are around speaking to world-class players like Virat, Gayle and Shane Watson. The world of cricket is shrinking in the sense that everyone is ready to share knowledge. You will find senior South African fast bowlers imparting knowledge to Indian fast bowlers and vice-versa. Being familiar with surroundings while playing for RCB will certainly help,” feels Shamsi.

India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match by registering a comprehensive 7-wicket win the 2nd T20I at Mohali. The first match of the series was washed out without a ball being bowled at Dharamsala. The final T20I will be played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.
