It is not everyday that one sees Sachin Tendulkar facing criticism in India. However, the legendary cricketer was called out by Bollywood singer Sona Mohapatra for his recent tweet where he praised the contestants of Indian Idol. Mohapatra was not at all impressed with the tweet because of the presence of Anu Malik in the show.

Last year during the #MeToo movement, Mohapatra had criticised and called out the singer-composer for his alleged misconduct towards women.  After the flood of accusations, Sony had sacked Malik. However, they roped him again for the ongoing season. Miffed with the turn of events, Mohapatra called out Sachin Tendulkar for praising contestants on the reality show.

In her latest post on Twitter, Mohapatra questioned Sachin whether he was aware of the MeToo allegations against composer Anu Malik, writing:

“Dear Sachin, Are you aware of all the @IndiaMeToo stories of multiple women, some minors who came forward in the public domain about Anu Malik, the judge in this same Indian Idol show last year including their own ex producer? Does their trauma not matter or touch anyone?”

Some fans tried to defend Sachin Tendulkar, saying that the legendary cricketer only praised the young contestants. But Mohapatra was clear with her stand and clarified the reason behind calling out the ex-India cricketer.

“Yes, the context is actually missing, for U. A powerful conglomerate like Sony TV is trying to divert the shameful reinstating of a multiple accused sexual offender, Anu Malik as a judge on #IndianIdol by publicising @sachin_rt & @anandmahindra’s praise & riding on their goodwill,” she wrote.

Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar had taken to Twitter to praise several Indian Idol contestants of this season. He said he was moved by the performances of Chelsi, Divas, Rahul and Sunny and also their life stories.

“Really touched by the soulful singing & life-stories of these talented youngsters on Indian Idol. Rahul, Chelsi, Diwas and Sunny come from different parts of the country but have the same passion & dedication for music despite all odds. I’m sure they’ll go a long way,” Sachin had tweeted.
